Live the Dream

This week has been another good one. I was happy to see three of the investigators whom I had taught four months with Elder Jorgensen from my previous area be baptized and confirmed this week. It was wonderful to see the fruits of the efforts even though I am no longer in that area.

For this baptism we all had to prepare. We cleaned the font and the church and those kind of things. In order to fill the baptismal font we had to use all of the water we had left from our apartment water tank but it still wasn’t quite enough water to fill the font—somehow we made it work.

The baptismal meeting was very nice. The Elder’s Quorum President and Branch President gave announcements, thoughts, and closing remarks. Elder Burr talked about baptism and I talked about the Holy Ghost. The spirit was very strong. Christian, one of the new members, will be a huge help with the Branch as he has already helped many people. Several people in the branch didn’t know he was an investigator and they thought he was a member already.

The baptismal font drains into the ground and we don’t even know where it really empties out. We really needed that water back. We get our water from the city on and off. When there is no other way to get water we call a truck to bring it to us and water is expensive. So today we took the water out of the font bucket by bucket and put it back into our tank. This took some work and time but we got all of the water out of the font into our tank so now we have some water for the apartment.

Dad, I am happy to hear you were able to watch a YouTube video and learn how to fix the dishwasher. It is almost like teaching someone but instead of having YouTube we listen for the spirit. If we aren’t on the right channel and aren’t observing and assessing the needs of our investigators they will end up a little confused. Without listening to the guidance of the spirit we could be going about it the wrong way trying to fix their problems in a way that won’t help. I agree it is definitely better to just do things right the first time and in my case that means following the spirit and doing my part.

Most of the time the sun has been able to charge our new solar apartment light. I have found that I can use my portable solar panel I brought with me to charge our solar apartment light when our apartment light hasn’t charged all the way.

I feel like life is a dream. The way time flows here sometimes makes no sense at all. It feels like my mission has been going by super-fast but looking back before my mission seems like a distant but vivid dream that is not a part of my reality. Live the dream.
